Architecture graduates from an accredited institution or the RAIC Syllabus program, who wish to become licensed and practice in Ontario, must have their academic qualifications certified by the Canadian Architectural Certification Board (CACB) before registering with the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) to complete the Intern Architect Program (IAP).

ORSA has a library of the Kaplan ARE study guides and materials for ARE 4.0 which can be borrowed for two weeks free of charge.*

3 Copies are available of each binder (2 binders/2 week maximum loan):

  • Architectural History, 2nd Edition
  • Building Design & Construction Systems, 2009 Edition
  • Contruction Documents & Services, 2009 Edition
  • Structural Systems, 2009 Edition
  • Building Systems, 2009 Edition
  • Schematic Design, 2009 Edition
  • Programming, Planning & Practice, 2009 Edition
  • Site Planning & Design, 2009 Edition

With the exception of Architectural History, each binder includes:

  • a study guide
  • a question & answer handbook
  • and for the Graphic Divisions, Practice Vignettes

Also available are 2 sets of flashcards for each ARE segment; there are no more CDs - Kaplan have changed their system to an online practice exam system which ORSA does have access.

    *Please note:

    • all study guides and materials are available to ORSA members only
    • a replacement fee will be charged if the study guides and materials are not returned intact, and on time
    • all intern library materials are available for a 2 week maximum loan period, with a limit of 2 binders per intern

    We also have the Dorf publication, "Solutions" to help you with preparation for the Graphic portion of the exams.
