"Daylighting: at the Core of Green Buildings"

Lisa Heschong, LC, M. Arch, Principal

Heschong Mahone Group

Daylighting has been shown to be an essential strategy to approaching net-zero energy use in commercial buildings.  Recent research also continues to build evidence that occupants benefit from access to daylight and views.  Lighting designers and manufacturers need to understand how they can profitably support the growing demand for daylit buildings. Lisa Heschong will explain the principals of successful daylighting in commercial buildings, and detail some of the most promising daylighting designs and photocontrol strategies for common building types in Canada. She will provide an overview of resources for further learning, including analysis tools, field studies, guidelines, and current research.
